Blueprint for mentorship

The REWINS 2.0 Blueprint for Mentorship is a guide designed to help create mentorship programmes that support the social inclusion of refugee women through sport. Developed as part of the REWINS 2.0 project, it offers practical steps to address barriers refugee women face in sports participation, such as childcare needs and cultural challenges. The blueprint emphasises setting clear objectives, conducting a thorough needs assessment, and selecting culturally aware mentors. Its flexible structure includes training on cultural competency, communication skills, and mental health awareness. Monitoring and evaluation processes ensure that progress is tracked and feedback collected, allowing mentors to create a supportive environment that empowers refugee women and aids their integration into host communities.

Research Study

The REWINS 2.0 Research Study offers an analysis of refugee women’s perspectives on sports participation, conducted by Organization Earth under the REWINS 2.0 project. Surveying 201 women from regions including the Middle East, Ukraine, and Africa, the study explores barriers, interests, and support needs around sports involvement. Findings highlight a strong interest in sports, with football, swimming, and volleyball being particularly popular. Key barriers identified include lack of childcare, limited information, and financial constraints, while cultural and religious factors were less significant than expected. The study emphasises that addressing practical obstacles can enhance refugee women’s integration and social inclusion through sports, advocating for inclusive, accessible programmes tailored to their specific needs.
